For this month's Behavior Rewards Event, we had Ron 's Reptile come to LCC. With only 5 Cheetah Cash, students were able to attend the event!
Ron was absolutely amazing! He's such a great teacher and I love that he was very very patient with our eager students. Pictures to come :) Welcome to 2016!!! I'm 14 days late, but hey! Welcome to 2016 :) To start off this wonderful new year, our Targeted Case Manager, Dolores Alaniz, will be offering a Nutrition and Budget Management Class at LCC. Are you eating smart, staying active and making every dollar count? Come check out this FREE weekly class that will be offering a lot of great information and gifts! For more details about this class, check out our Latest News page or give Dolores a call! I hope to see you all there. I know I definitely need to work on eating healthier and being more active. Every Wednesday starting February 3rd from 8:30-10am in Room 21 02/03, 02/10, 02/17, 02/24, 03/02, 03/09, 03/23, 03/30 Presenter: Rosario G. Clerici-Green, M.Ed. Nutrition Educator *For questions and to sign up contact Dolores Alaniz at 891-3285 ex 121 [email protected] *You can also RSVP to this event below :) For my classroom lessons this week, the students and I discussed the meaning of gratitude and reasons to be thankful. Then we followed up with a discussion on things we should say more often.
I showed them this video first (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yA5Qpt1JRE4) then this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5yCOSHeYn4). If you've never heard of Kid President, you have to check out these two videos. I love that the videos are so simple, yet full of meaning. Very funny and cute too! For the next two weeks, think about the people you are thankful for and about the things you should say more often to them or to anyone! Have a safe and wonderful holiday!! See you in 2016 :) To this day, I still have friends asking me the role of a professional school counselor. That got me thinking... There must be parents, kids, community members, and even school staff who must be wondering the same thing!
I found this nifty document that clearly outlines most of of what I do (and not do). Kudos to Ms. Marston for creating and sharing this document! Winter break is approaching, which means festivities are right around the corner like our Spirit Week!! Get your wardrobe ready for next week!
**Friendly reminder: Friday, Dec. 18th is a minimum day (release time is 11:50 am). We get to go home early! :) LCC has AMAZING parents and I just want to give a shout out to them, especially the ones that just completed the Positive Parenting and Family Leadership Workshop !! The workshop covered various topics over the course of 6 weeks and was facilitated by our Targeted Case Manager, Dolores.
Future workshops will be announced on our Latest News page :) Two weeks ago, our school set out to accomplish a mission: donate 1000 cans to the food bank. Two weeks later, I'm proud to say that LCC has reached that goal and more! Our kiddos with their gracious hearts donated 1100 cans! Wowza!
North State Food Bank came by on Friday morning to collect the cans and was blown away by the number of cans that our kiddos donated. Student Leadership has done an amazing job leading this mission and I couldn't be any more proud of them!!! 10 weeks of practice culminated in an AMAZING 5K run! The girls were excited and PUMPED for the run. We had a great time warming up with some Zumba, which I might add, is SO MUCH FUN! As a coach and also an aunt of one of the participants in GOTR (Girls on the Run), I would highly encourage you to consider registering your daughter for GOTR. It's a beautiful program that allows your daughter's greatness to shine! The crew... This season's awesome coaches :)
